Lego Advent: Day 17

Categories Lego Advent

A reprieve.

Santa has visited early this year, and has brought a Lego Advent calendar. There are 24 little numbered doors, each containing a dime bag of Legos. There’s a new toy or doodad to build every day, which, in turn, builds anticipation for Christmas.

I will build these and attempt to discern what they are.

December 17: Christmas Tree

This is a Christmas tree. I am so relieved that this is an identifiable thing that has something to do with Christmas.

Rating

Fun ★★★☆☆

It’s not the most dynamic prize, but it’s at least medium fun. It could be decorated differently or customized with spare parts, if desired (which I’ve actually already done).

Ease of Build ★★★☆☆

There are some interesting construction techniques here. It’s a cool way to imply a conical shape with mostly flat pieces. The insides were a little odd, mostly because of the instructive diagram.

Comprehensibility ★★★★★

This is clearly a Christmas Tree. Sure, it’s got a “Picasso’s First Christmas” vibe and it’s topped with a Lego Oscar Award, but after the Fence and Checkers debacle, I’ll take it.

Extra Parts ★★★☆☆

This comes with an extra round yellow thing and an additional Lego Oscar Award.

Overall ★★★★☆

I’m sure this tree could give a Postal Nerd or Lantern Girl a very merry Christmas, given what they’ve seen.
