Hurricane Irene: Followup

Fortuitous in Val's Yard

We were spared the worst of Hurricane Irene. I don’t think it was technically a hurricane by the time it got to New Jersey, and we were just subjected to 8″ or 10″ of rain and gusty (though not force 12) winds. There’s a lot of flooding in the region, but we and our boat made out without too much trouble.

Here’s Fortuitous, safely nestled in Val’s yard…thank you Val for both the yard and the pictures:

Trixie’s saw a gust of 55mph at 9:40 last night, and they have quite a bit of water in the yard, including where our boat would have been. They posted these photos on Facebook:

Val had moved Providence II to the Forked River State Marina in preparation for the storm, and she fared well there. Cedar Creek, where she’s usually docked, did ok, but the water in the creek was really high, up past the docks and halfway into the parking lot. Val also took these photos:

I have no regrets about being prepared, but I’m glad we didn’t get it as bad as some. Best wishes to everyone out there who’s still dealing with the aftermath of this storm.
